OPEN THREAD: Myrtle and the 210

It occurs to me that when people come into Monrovia via the Myrtle Avenue off-ramp, they are seeing a big sign that says "Mt. Sierra College" and not much else. In fact there is always trash that has collected next to the chainlink fence, and the whole area is rather unsightly. What are your ideas for making it a bit nicer? For one I think it could use a sign with an arrow that says "Old Town Monrovia."

Almost anything would be nicer, but I hope that it gets spruced up to match the quality of our current old town. The city has been talking about improving the "entrance" to old town for years....I guess when the train station goes in something will happen?? My friends all joke about the giant brassiere....I think the Myrtle exit (from eastbound traffic) is famous for that!

I love the giant bra, we can't get rid of that landmark. Gad's directions to my house is always at the bottom of the ramp make a left at the 52FFF.

Kidding aside, We do need a nice formal signage to Old Town as that is one of our big identifiers. If the goodies tossed up at the planning meeting a few weeks ago hold true there may actually be a nice formal sign bridging Myrtle at the south entrance to Old Town.

My rant if I may. What was the city thinking when they tore out that lovely planted median on Myrtle from Olive south a few blocks? That was such a grand entrance into old town. Now that strip looks like an abandoned airstrip with cars packed on. It did nothing to improve traffic. It only detracted from the grand entrance into Old Town.

See you all at the Art Event today on Myrtle.

Geez you all must be newer than the old Monrovia... The Mt Sierra sign is way better than the biker bars and xxx shops that were along huntington.
