Hollywood comes to Monrovia

Snow in Monrovia, originally uploaded by Corey Porter.

It seems that our little city of Monrovia is once again a backdrop for Hollywood, this time for the series "October Road," which city officials say will be regularly shooting here. So get used to it folks...we are just irresistible.

Back in the old days, like 15 years ago or so, there
was a TV series called Picket Fences that filmed in Monrovia for years. City Hall was the P.D., the Methodist Church was the courthouse and the city's annex building on Ivy and Lime was the local
doctor's office. Several residences around town were the homes of the townsfolk of Rome, Wis. in the series.

One HOT August day, the production company filmed the Thanksgiving episode along the 100 east block of Colorado. I was an "extra" in my parka, ski cap and gloves. Sweltering day with all those extra clothes on, looking like we were standing in the snow. My hat and waving hand made it past the cutting room floor. My claim to fame!
