Monrovia Market

Monrovia Market, originally uploaded by Living in Monrovia.

Looks like the market on Shamrock across from the park is undergoing a transformation! Seems there will be a restaurant attached. :)

I agree nice new front and great signage. The inside still needs work and it smells funky old in there.

I miss the old butchershop they had in there a few years ago. They had probably what was the best carne asada and skirt steak marinaded and ready to use in the area. The restaurant just isn't as special or terrific as the butcher was.

Oh darn. I always meant to check ou that butchershop, but never seemed to think of it at the right time. I go to King's Market on Huntington Drive when I need certain "icky" things, and they seem to have quite a bit to choose from.

Kings is good, try Mikes Market at 1322 Huntington in Duarte as its hands down got the best meat department in the immediate area.

King's has a bigger produce section. King's also has the free bus service for its older and transportation challenged customers that I thought was a nice touch. One of these days's I'll get around to talking with them for an article on blogging.la as they are the kind of business that goes out of its way for customers and needs the nod.
