The Aztec Muddle

Aztec Hotel, originally uploaded by Living in Monrovia.

So can anyone tell me what is up with the Aztec Hotel paint job? Everytime I drive by I have to shake my head. I'm going to have to call them one day soon to find out what the heck happened. I haven't seen anyone with a paint brush in hand for weeks. Are they waiting for the next paint sale? Has the person in charge been fired? Will there be another garish color added to the mix? Please...help me out here people, or help out the Aztec Hotel. Should we all march down there on our day off and help them make it right. Hey I'd even settle for an ordinary shade of white like Swiss Coffee. Just make it better, please??

Eyesore.

I think that they went shopping for paint and selected paint colors and chips entitled "Cringe" and "oh, heavens" and "I don't believe it."

I think that the hotel owner was looking for a gimmick, as she has had money woes. The freakish look of the facade will likely attract freakish patrons- but money is money- right, Aztec owner?

My husband gets his hair cut at the barber shop there and he said the barber says she is going back to "the original colors" of the Aztec Hotel. It isn't very attractive, in my opinion!!

My spouse saw an old postcard of the hotel and apparently it did sport this distinctive color palette. Perhaps it will look better when the exterior paint job is complete and then a bit weathered by the sun/elements.

Ugh, agreed. Totally hideous! Every time I drive by it I can't take my eyes off it! They should change it back before no one remembers what it used to look like.
